Manfred or more popularly known as Captain Fred is probably one of the more well known driver at our track especially since he is possibly one of the earliest father-son driving combo. ( James drives in the Junior class and was featured here earlier )

Before earning his "captain-ship" in the aviation business, Fred had ambitions to be a professional driver and raced Formula 3 in the late sixties. This aspiration was put on hold after a hiccup in funds then... While in Malaysia during the early nineties, Fred discovered  karting to be a suitable family pursuit with son, James. 

He soon raced in ICA for a few years but as his son's kart racing grew more serious, Fred decided to continue in the P and now Formula 125 class. In Australia, where Fred comes from - he races competitively a Formula 2 car with some success. ( that's how he keeps his racing sharp... )

Capt Fred is truly one of the most friendly, fair dinkum & professional driver you can hope to meet on & off track. I know because I raced against him! 

By the way, his professional racing aspiration is now handed over to son, James - so watch out!
