Name : Aaron Lim Say Joon Age : 15 Date of Birth : 22nd June 1985 Class Racing in : Formula 100 Quotes : "I started karting when I was about 7 years old. My first ever race was in Langkawi. I was driving Cadet at that time. Last year I won the Junior Class Category as the Overall Champion, so for this year I have upgraded myself to the Open ( Formula 100 ) category. It has been tough this year with so many good drivers like Ng Wai Leong, Mickel Ali, Jeffrey Suresh, etc... I hope that I will do well in the coming kart prix which is the KBS Kart Prix Round 3 which will be held in Sepang." said our young champion. Aaron races kart with his father Richard as his mentor/coach & spannerman - a formidable duo in the local kart racing scene. Our young racer is also targeted as one of the young potential drivers in the Meritus Racing Team - a further boost for his venture into the motorsport world.

AARON LIM'S 2003 EUROPEAN ASSAULT! Aaron Lim writes about his European season, while on his break mid season. "Here is some details of my European experience. For the year 2003, I will be taking part in 5 rounds of Italian Championship, Margutti Trophy and 4 rounds European Championship and the World Championship. So far, I have done the Italian Championship and 3 rounds of the European Championship and the Margutti Trophy. My first race for the year 2003 in Europe was the first round of the Italian Championship in La Conca in February and this year being my first season in Europe, I knew it was going to be difficult so I didn't hope for much but just wanted to get experience and try to learn as much as possible. The race was really very tough with me really finding it hard to get to terms with the grip. The track was very challenging but a very beautiful track. Then the next race was Margutti Trophy in Parma. During practice it was really good. The pace was really good but due to lack of experience, I did not qualify well so had to start almost last in the field. It was also tough in the heats as I had to start from the back so had some accidents along the way. The next race in Pomposa (Italian Round 2) where I finished 7th in both the heats and was to start 15 in the final but lost a nose cone in the rolling lap so that was the end of the race. It was nevertheless a very good weekend for me and a memorable experience. The third round of the Italian Championship was held in Jesolo. The track had lots of grip and was very challenging, so in the second chance heat, I started from 28 and finished 9th - so not too bad but wasn't enough to make the final. Fourth round in Corridonnia was really good but due to a seized engine in heat 1 while in 10th position - I had to start heat 2 in last position but finished 11th! In finals, I started 22 but crashed halfway in the final while overtaking in 13th position. Fifth round in Sarno was really good as finished 7th and 3rd in both heats. I started 9th in final but due to a mistake when i went off track, and some dirt went into the engine. This caused the engine to slow down but I still managed to finished 13th in final. So a good weekend as well, considering the circumstances. First round of the EC (European Championship) was in Angerville, France. Qualified 4 tenths behind pole position but that was about 50th position so had a lot of work to do!! Unluckily, due to some crashes in the heats, I could not make the final - so I raced in the B final where I was in last position ( about 20th ) after first corner after another driver pushed me off. Nevertheless, i finished 4th in the final and posted the fastest laptime as well. In fact the laptime would have put me in the top 6 in the main final. So speed was really good but I still lack the experience. Second Round EC in Finland was held at the Mika Salo Kart Circuit. The track was really nice and fast. Also crashed too many times in heat and missed the cut for the final by about 10 positions. I was placed in B final but finished 3rd this time.. so at least a podium!! : ) Third Round in Braga was really difficult as it rained on Sunday and fell sick, not a good weekend. Anyway, all my race results are posted on www.federkarting.it and www.cikfia.com. There are also some pictures of me, on the website www.ksp.fr under the name LIM Aaron." AARON LIM
