KBS - TVR Sports Malaysia Kart Prix Series 2002

In line with  our  esteemed and  honorable  Prime Minister;  Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir's vision to promote motorsports in our nation, Kementerian Belia & Sukan ( KBS ) has set the objective to promote and encourage the sport of karting amongst our Malaysian youths.

Malaysia's Search...
From  this involvement, KBS hopes to also search and foster new local talents to  international standard kart  driving  levels, with the hope that this effort will eventually lead to Malaysia's  increased involvement  in international level motorsports events. This   aspiration  is also in line with the nation's  search  for   our  Formula 1   drivers, who  will  in future  do  Malaysia proud  and  place  Malaysia firmly  in  the world class motorsports scene.

From the pilot kart race events run successfully under this series in 1999 and the overwhelming response for the 4 international standard rounds in 2000 & 2001, the number of rounds for the  KEMENTERIAN BELIA & SUKAN - TVR SPORTS MALAYSIA KART PRIX   events organised for the year 2002 is maintained at four events.

International Class Drivers...
In  conjunction  with  Ford Malaysia  as  the  co-title   sponsor  and  also  other  sponsors, City Karting Promotion ( the marketing arm of City Karting Enterprise )  together with  Kelab  Kart Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan ( KKS ) has to date,  managed  to  attract  all the regional top drivers to their events. Drivers coming as far as Germany, England, France, Finland, Sweden, Australia, Brunei, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Indonesia  and  Singapore, have made up the grid of drivers for the last events and more are expected.

Exposure for the Sponsors...
Extensive  coverage of the events by the local media has also encouraged more sponsors participation, as motorsports is now seen as a new, upcoming and exciting avenue of  sports marketing. The races for this year's series will also be aired over the  local television by the TV3 Channel, boosting further  our sponsor's image & marketing aspiration.
